🔼 The Ranger Is On Patrol. Just two weeks into his third NFL season, former Coug Daiyan Henley is already making noise.

Playing on Monday Night Football, Henley picked off Geno Smith’s first pass of the night to set the tone as he racked up 10 tackles, a sack, and two pass deflections to go along with his second career interception.

In his past 20 NFL games, Henley has double-digit tackles in 10 of those contests and has earned the praise of Chargers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh, who labeled Henley as a “rising star in the league” after his performance on Monday night in Las Vegas.

🔼 Among The Leaders. Two tournaments into her collegiate career and WSU freshman Kaitlyn Helm is already among the leaders.

The freshman from Phoenix capped her week with an even-par 72 to finish the 54-hole tournament at seven-under (209) to earn a third-place finish at the Badger Invitational.

Helm's mark of seven-under tied for the fourth-best 54-hole mark in program history while her score of 209 tied for the fifth-best 54-hole score in program history. She tied for the second-best round in program history with an opening-round 66, posted a second-round 71 and used five birdies to record a final round 72, finishing two strokes back of the winner.

As a team, WSU moved up one spot on the final day to finish fifth out of the 14 competing teams, finishing ahead of Iowa and host Wisconsin.

🔼 Runnin’ Wild. I guess this is what happens when you destroy a course record, huh?

Earlier this week, WSU cross country sophomore Evans Kurui earned the Men's NCAA Division-I National Athlete of the Week honor. Kurui is the only athlete to ever win this award for Washington State cross country, winning the award in back-to-back seasons.

In his second race of the season, the Cougar Classic, Kurui set a course 8k record with a time of 22 minutes and 22.1 seconds, 20 seconds better than his record set a last year's meet. His time was 10 seconds faster than Solomon Kipchoge, 22:32.4, which also would have set a course record. In his young career at Washington State, Kurui has captured six individual race titles in nine career starts.

Longisa won the Cougar Classic with a meet-record time of 19 minutes and 32.3 seconds, one minute and five seconds faster than second-place finisher. Longisa has competed in two races this season, winning both in convincing fashion.
