🔼 Grand Opening. 75 new faces and a whole new coaching staff made their Wazzu debut on Saturday night in front of an electric Pullman crowd.
Redshirt freshman Jack Stevens kicked a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left to lift the Cougs to a 13-10 win over Idaho at Gesa Field.
Making his first career start, WSU quarterback Jaxon Potter threw for 209 yards, completing 24 of 31 attempts, including six completions on the game-winning drive in the game’s final minutes.
🔼 Off And Running. In the opening race of the 2025 season, sophomores Evans Kurui and Rosemary Longisa smashed event records for the Cougar cross country squads at the annual WSU Alumni Open on Friday.
Longisa won the women’s race in her first collegiate cross country race, crossing the line in 12:54.4, 15 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
On the men’s side, Kurui raced to an early lead and never looked back as he blazed his way to a 15-second win over second-place finisher Solomon Kipchoge. Kurui, who's time of 16:44.3 was 12-seconds faster than the previous record in this event, marked the second-consecutive year he has shattered the event record.
🔼 Battlin’ The Best. Once again, the WSU women’s soccer team showed that they can go toe-to-toe with the best.
Taking on #13 Georgia on Sunday afternoon, the Cougs earned a 1-1 draw after an early goal from Ava Ghoreishi got WSU on the board.
The Cougs earned a top-25 result against a ranked opponent for the second-consecutive season and earned a result at home against a top-15 team for the first time since October 24, 2021, drawing then-No. 8 UCLA.
