🔼 Game Week. The wait is finally over. Game week has arrived.

This Sunday, the WSU Football program enters a new era as head coach Kirby Moore and the Cougs head to Seattle to battle for the Apple Cup against #17 Washington at 1 p.m. PT on NBC.

This marks the first time ever that the Apple Cup has served as the season opener for both programs.

Cougar Nation, game day is coming to Marco Polo.

🔼 Grand Opening. The Washington State Volleyball squad couldn’t have asked for a much better start to the 2026 season, going a perfect 3-0 at the Cougar Invitational in Bohler Gym.

The Cougars opened with a straight-set sweep of Omaha on Friday, hitting .330 as a team, before bouncing back from an opening-set loss to defeat Montana, 3-1, on Saturday. WSU’s defense at the net was particularly impressive against the Grizzlies, finishing with 16 team blocks.

WSU finished the weekend in style Sunday with another sweep, taking down Central Michigan 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 to improve to 3-0. WSU posted 12 more blocks in the victory, with Mary Healy contributing seven kills, three aces and four blocks.

🔼 Always A Coug. Former Washington State Football Coach Bill Doba has passed away at the age of 85.

Doba, a longtime defensive coordinator and five-year head coach of the Cougars (2003-07), worked 19 seasons at the Washington State coaching staff. Doba posted 30 wins including three Apple Cup victories his five seasons leading WSU.

He became Washington State’s 30th head football coach December 18, 2002, after serving as a Cougar assistant for 14 years. During that time WSU won two Pacific-10 Conference championships and made four bowl appearances, including two trips to the Rose Bowl. Doba’s appointment was the culmination of 40 years in the coaching profession at the high school and collegiate level.
