🔼 We Love Lucie. After a star-studded freshman campaign last fall, redshirt sophomore Lucie Blažková is back and ready to lead the WSU volleyball program into another exciting season on the court.

This week, Blažková earned preseason praise as she was named to the All-West Coast Conference Preseason Team. As a squad, the Cougars were voted fourth in the annual WCC Preseason Coaches poll.

The Czech Republic native is coming off her redshirt freshman season last year when she was named to the All-WCC Second Team and the WCC All-Freshman Team. Blažková made an impact on both sides of the ball in her first season on the court for the Cougars, leading the team in both attack percentage and blocks.

🔼 Saluting Seven. The WSU cross country squads got into the preseason praise action as well with seven Cougars (five men, two women) being selected to the All-WCC Preseason Teams this week.

Both teams were picked to finish second in the league in the preseason coaches poll.

For the men, the Cougars had five members named to the 2025 WCC Preseason team, led by defending WCC Runner of the Year and 2024 WCC champion Evans Kurui. Also named to the 10-member team were Cougar newcomers Rogers Chelal, Solomon Kipchoge and Vincent Koech, as well as Josphat Meli.

On the women's side, WSU redshirt-sophomore Zenah Cheptoo and sophomore Caroline Jepkorir were each named to the 2025 WCC Preseason team.

⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 8️⃣ DAYS

A Cougar looking to turn some heads this fall will be wearing #8️⃣ as Brandon Ganashamoorthy continues to build on his success last season as a redshirt freshman.

As a former track standout in Monroe, Wash., Ganashamoorthy got into football late in high school and has bright future after appearing in 11 games for the Cougs in 2024, hauling in five passes for 45 yards, including a TD.

That first career TD for Ganashamoorthy came in the Holiday Bowl against #21 Syracuse.

🤔 COUGAR TRIVIA

With just over six weeks left in the 2025 Major League Baseball season, former WSU baseball standout Ryan Walker and his San Francisco Giants teammates are in a hunt for a spot in the postseason.

Of Walker’s team-leading 53 appearances out of the pen for San Fran, how many of them have been scoreless outings?
