⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 1️⃣0️⃣ DAYS

He may not have been wearing #1️⃣0️⃣ back then, but Leyton Smithson will be this fall as the dangerous special teams weapon is back for his senior season with the Cougs.

The Bellingham, Wash. native is a threat on the kickoff game, returning 33 kicks over the past two seasons for an average of nearly 25 yards per return.

That return against Colorado during the 2023 season was the first kickoff return for a TD for WSU since Travell Harris in 2018.

In addition to his special teams skills, Smithson is an added threat in the wide receiver room, tallying 30 catches for 235 yards and a TD in his Cougar career.

🔼 Power Pair. WSU student-athletes Katy Ryan and Kyle Thornton were named the Pac-12 Conference Tom Hansen Medal recipients for the 2024-25 academic year.
 
Conference medal winners have been named every year since the 1960-61 academic year. In 2009, the Pac-12 renamed the award the Tom Hansen Conference Medal in honor of Hansen, who retired at the end of June 2009 after serving for 26 years as Commissioner of the Pac-10.

A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

🔼 Welcome To The Fam. The second year of the Nathan Choate era is ready to roll as the Cougars welcomed 17 new faces to the WSU baseball program this week.

Choate and his staff officially unveiled the incoming class, which includes four transfers, five JUCO signees and eight high school graduates.
