📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Preseason Praise. Coming off another Bowl game trip in 2025, expectations are once again high as the Cougs prepare for the upcoming 2026 campaign.
This week, 13 WSU standouts were recognized by Phil Steele with spots on the Preseason All-Sun Belt squads.
Defensive end Linus Zunk was named to the first team and four earned second-team honors; wideout Tony Freeman, left tackle Ashton Tripp, cornerback Khamari Terrell and kicker Jack Stevens. Five earned third-team accolades; quarterback Caden Pinnick, wideout Darrius Clemons, offensive lineman Jonny Lester, defensive tackle Jirah Leaupepetele and Freeman as a punt returner. Running back Kirby Vorhees, defensive end Matyus McLain and linebacker DJ Warner.
🔼 Straight Dealin’. Former WSU hurler Connor Wilford earned his shot and he’s making it count.
Wilford began this season making seven starts for the Lexington Legends out of the American Independent League before the Mariners signed him in early June.
A month later, the big right-hander is making his opportunity worth it, posting a 2-1 record in four starts with a 2.45 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 22 innings of work.
Last night, Wilford had his best outing yet, allowing just five hits and one run in six innings of work, while striking out nine in a 5-2 victory for the Class-A Inland Empire 66ers.

🔼 Countin’ Down. Tick tock, tick tock, we’re getting closer and closer.
That’s right, we are just 6️⃣0️⃣ days away from the kickoff of the 2026 football season for the Cougs.
A two-time All-Pac 12 honoree, Jamal Morrow was one of the best pass catching running backs in program history.
His senior season, he hauled in 6️⃣0️⃣ receptions, the fifth-most in a single-season by any Cougar running back. It is one of just five seasons in school history in which a running back caught 6️⃣0️⃣+ passes.
Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Wazzu Football this fall. The Cougs will take on Washington
in the Apple Cup on Sept. 6 in Seattle.
