The Official Newsletter for Washington State Athletics, presented by BECU
Good Morning, Wazzu Fam. We can’t wait to see these guys go to work in November!
What all do we have in today’s Brew? Check it out below.
🏈 Getting Closer
🙌 Welcome To The Fam
⚽️ She’s Backkkkk
👏 And much more!
📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Countin’ Down. Tick tock, tick tock, we’re getting closer and closer.
That’s right, we are now 4️⃣1️⃣ days away from the kickoff of the 2026 football season for the Cougs.
The date: October 19, 2019
The opponent: Colorado
Monster days from Anthony Gordon and Max Borghi sparked Wazzu to a dominant 4️⃣1️⃣-10 victory over the visiting Buffs. Gordon tossed for 369 yards and four TDs, while Borghi rushed for 105 yards and scored TDs in the win.
Defensively, the Cougs picked off Colorado twice and stifled the Buffs all night long.
Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Wazzu Football this fall. The Cougs will take on Washington
in the Apple Cup on Sept. 6 in Seattle.
🔼 Opportunity Knocks. With NFL training camps set to open up around the country, one of our own will be right in the mix.
Last week, Jonah Chong was announced as one of the Bill Walsh Diversity Internship fellows for the Indianapolis Colts for the upcoming 2026 training camp.
Chong is entering his first season at WSU under Head Coach Kirby Moore, where he will serve as the Cougs offensive graduate assistant in 2026.
Cougs don't just show up on game day. They show up every day.
Cougs Mobile, a wireless service built in partnership with WSU, directs a portion of every payment toward WSU athletics and student programs, at no extra cost to you. No donation form. No pledge drive. Just your wireless plan backing Coug Country.
Unlimited plans from $25/mo. No contracts. No hidden fees. Keep your number.
🔼 Welcome To The Fam. The newest member of the Cougs leadership team has arrived.
On Friday, Director of Athletics Jon Haarlow officially named Tyler Mariucci WSU’s Executive Senior Associate Director of Athletics.
Mariucci joins Washington State to oversee the Cougar Athletic Fund and Cougar Athletics Ticket Office. Mariucci comes to Pullman after serving the previous three years as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development at Fresno State.
Mariucci has held executive and senior leadership roles spanning the Mountain West, Big Ten, American and Western Athletic conferences during great transformation and change.
🔼 She’s Backkkk. Tenacity. Resilience. Toughness.
That’s only three words, but they sum up WSU legend Morgan Weaver and her mindset as she has officially worked herself back from injury for the first time since November 2024.
In her four seasons with the Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL, Weaver has scored 19 goals and assisted on 10 in 75 appearances.
She was the #2 overall pick in the 2020 NWSL College Draft after a record-setting career with the Cougs as the program’s all-time leading point scorer (98).
🏈 SEPTEMBER IS COMING
A new era for WSU Football is on the horizon.
We are now less than 50 days away from the Cougs returning to the gridiron and last week, Head Coach Kirby Moore sat down on The Dawn with Yogi Roth to talk expectations for the 2026 season, where the Cougars fit into the new Pac-12 and more
