🔼 It’s Showtime. Tonight’s the night.
This evening, WSU track standout Evans Kurui will be stepping onto the track looking to put the finishing touches on an already historic season.
Zegarski is one of 24 runners who will be vying for the top spot in the 10000m at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
The race is set to get underway at 7:56 p.m. ET.
Tomorrow night, the Cougar women's duo of Rosemary Longisa (1500m) and Caroline Jepkorir (3000m steeplechase) will take to the track for national semifinals in their respective events.

🔼 Region’s Best. Add another line to the 2026 resume of WSU southpaw Nick Lewis.
On Tuesday, Lewis earned a spot on the ABCA All-West Region Second Team, as voted on by the college coaches in the West Region.
Lewis was named the 2026 Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year, WSU's first conference pitcher of the year in program history, and was also selected to both All-Tournament Teams at the Mountain West Conference Tournament and Eugene NCAA Regional. The redshirt-sophomore from Corona, Calif. finished the season with a 10-2 record and 2.97 ERA in 100 innings, WSU's first 10-game winner since 2000.
🔼 Smarty ‘Cats. WSU was well-represented on this year's Scholar-Athlete Award list from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) with 12 earning distinction late last week.
The group of Cougars are part of a list of 1,174 student-athletes who represent the highest standards of excellence in both academic achievement and athletic performance across all divisions of collegiate women's rowing.

🔼 What A Run. A foundational piece of the WSU Athletic Department over the past two-plus decades is hanging up his credential.
WSU Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Strategic Communications Bill Stevens has retired after 21 years working in the Cougars' athletic communications department.
Stevens came to WSU as sports information assistant director in August 2005 and since that time, served as the director, assistant athletic director, and beginning in 2014, associate athletic director for athletic communications. Stevens was responsible for the overall communications strategy for the athletic department, working primarily as the communications contact for football along many other Cougar sports and more recently, served as the sport administrator for men's golf and women's tennis.

🔼 Countin’ Down. Tick tock, tick tock, we’re getting closer and closer.
That’s right, we are just 88 days away from the kickoff of the 2026 football season for the Cougs.
Wearing #8️⃣8️⃣ this fall will be an exciting new face in wide receiver Jordan Dees (6-5, 195), a transfer from West Georgia, one of the newest schools to join the FCS division in recent years.
Dees played in 11 games last year for the Wolves, hauling in 35 catches for 508 yards and three TDs.
Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Wazzu Football this fall. The Cougs will take on Washington
in the Apple Cup on Sept. 6 in Seattle.
