🔼 Coming Up Roses. The season may only be two weeks in, but no one in the Northern Super League is off to a hotter start than former WSU standout Elyse Bennett.

Bennett, who is a force up front for Roses de Montreal, has three goals in the first two games of 2026 to lead the league and help her squad off to a 2-0 start.

She is one of seven former Cougs in the professional ranks.

WSU is back in action today with a Monday date with Gonzaga in Spokane. First pitch is set for 4 pm.

🔼 In The Nick Of Time. For the fifth time this season, the WSU Baseball team has earned a weekly accolade from the Mountain West Conference.

This week, it was lefthander Nick Lewis, who was named the MWC Pitcher of the Week.

Lewis earned his team-leading seventh win of the season after firing a complete-game five-hitter to open WSU's series win against Fresno State. The redshirt-sophomore allowed just one unearned run in the Cougars 5-1 win Friday evening to earn the most wins since 2015.

The southpaw is 7-2, tying for the league lead in wins, leading the conference with a 3.50 ERA and 74.2 innings, and fourth in batting average against (.254).

🔼 New Addition. A big addition is heading to Pullman as this week, 6-2 forward Lizzy Filchagina signed to join the WSU Women’s Basketball program for the 2026-27 season.

Filchagina arrives with three years of eligiblity remaining after spending her freshman campaign at SMU.
