🔼 Tourney Time. The wait is over. Tourney time is here for the WSU Baseball squad.
Tonight in Mesa, Ariz., the second-seeded Cougs will take the field for their Mountain West Tournament opener against third-seeded Air Force.
The two programs two weeks ago in a three-game series in Colorado with WSU taking two-of-three from the Falcons.
First pitch this evening is set for 6:05 p.m.
🔼 Hardware Haul. Even before stepping onto the field in the desert, the WSU Baseball team is already bringing home hardware.
Wazzu had five All-Mountain West Conference selections, including three to the first team as voted on by the coaches.
Cougar lefthander Nick Lewis was named the Conference Pitcher of the Year and to the first team, while senior outfielder Max Hartman and infielders Gavin Roy were also each named to the first team. Senior first baseman Ryan Skjonsby and senior righthander Griffin Smith were both named to the second team. The five selections are the most since 2023, while the three first-team selections are the most since 2009.

On Thursday, the NCAA announced all the qualifiers for the first round of postseason action, the NCAA West Preliminaries in Fayetteville, Arkansas, set to take place from May 27-30.
Nine WSU track student-athletes qualified for the postseason event led by Rosemary Longisa and Evans Kurui. Longisa arrives to the postseason with the top time in the nation in the 1500-meter run, headlining a quartet of Cougar women competing in three distance events. WSU's men qualified five student-athletes for the 10,000-meter national semifinals, led by Kurui, who also earned a bid in the 5000-meter run.

🔼 Young Gun. For the second time in as many seasons, a former Cougar lands on the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Cedric Coward of the Memphis Grizzlies joins his teammate, Jaylen Wells, as an All-Rookie first team member. The Grizz duo and Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Klay Thompson are the only active WSU alums who landed the first team nod.
This season in Memphis, Coward averaged 13.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over his 62 games played and 47 starts.
