🔼 Locked In. After this week’s Mountain West results, the Washington State Baseball team locked up the No. 2 seed for next week’s conference tournament in Mesa, Ariz.

With the No.2 seed, the Cougs earn a first-round bye into the double-elimination portion of the bracket.

WSU will open tournament action at 6:05 p.m. PT on Friday night.

🔼 Academic Accolades. On the field isn’t the only place the Cougs had success this year.

This week, the NCAA released its 2024-25 Academic Progress Rate (APR) and five of WSU's programs, men's cross country, men's and women's golf, tennis and volleyball posted perfect multi-year scores, while 10 programs recorded perfect single-year APR scores.

The APR is an annual assessment of each team's academic and retention history. The APR holds institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term. The APR score is based on the most recent four years of data (2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25).

🔼 Getting To Know You. In-state product Malia Ruud got her first taste of the collegiate game last season with the Cougs, starting in 31 of WSU’s 34 games.

Now, the Pasco native is ready for even more next year.
