🏆 TOURNEY TIME

With the regular season all wrapped up, it’s Tourney Time for Cougar Hoops.

This week, both Wazzu squads head to Vegas to take on the WCC Tournament gauntlet.

The WSU women’s squad will open up the action on Thursday as the ninth-seed. They will take on #12 Seattle in the opening round for the right to play Pacific in Friday’s second round action. Tip time is set for 12 pm PT.

In the men’s bracket, the Cougs earned a first-round bye and will await the winner of ninth-seeded Portland and 12th-seeded Pacific. They will face that winner on Friday at 6 pm PT.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Finishing Strong. The WSU women’s hoops squad is heading to Vegas with momentum on its side after winning the final two regular season games, including sending its seniors off with a HUGE 57-50 victory over Saint Mary’s on Saturday.

The Cougs used interior toughness, timely shot-making, and a composed finish in the final minutes to earn a victory in the season finale.

Eleonora Villa led the way with 13 points, adding a key three-pointer and multiple finishes at the rim. Alex Covill posted a strong interior performance with 12 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and two blocks, while Malia Ruud matched her teammate in the scoring column with 12 points of her own.

🔼 California Love. The WSU tennis team finished their weekend in a BIG way, taking down #36 UC Santa Barbara, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon in Seattle.

Redshirt-junior Yura Nakagawa's three-set victory at No. 4 singles clinched the a 4-3 the highest-ranked victory for WSU since defeating No. 35 Washington, April 20, 2022.

🔼 California Love. The WSU Baseball team wrapped up their trip to California by taking two games at Long Beach State.

The Cougs broke out the offense against LBSU, scoring 19 runs in two games, winning 10-4 and 9-7 over the Dirtbags.

Long Beach native Ryan Skjonsby had two hits, three runs scored and three RBIs in the two victories over his hometown school.
