🔼 Connect Four. The WSU volleyball squad shook off a slow start and roared back to claim a 3-1 road win over Seattle University (17-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-17) on Thursday night to extend the Cougs’ winning streak to four.

The Cougars hammered down 50 kills and racked up 14 service aces, overwhelming the Redhawks in the final three sets.

Lucie Blažková powered the offense with 16 kills on .423 hitting while also stuffing six blocks at the net. Taryn Vrieling delivered 11 kills and four service aces, sparking Washington State's turnaround after the first set. Setter duo Livia Ward (24 assists) and Italia Bernal (20 assists) orchestrated a steady attack that kept Seattle U off balance.

The serving line was a major weapon for WSU. Tinons Munar Galmés fired six aces, including a key run in the third set that broke the match wide open. Mary Healy added three more, and the Cougars piled up five aces in that set alone while holding Seattle U to a negative hitting percentage.

🔼 What A Run. Former WSU standout Kyle Manzardo saw his second season in the MLB come to an end with Cleveland’s loss in the Wild Card Round to the Detroit Tigers.

Manzardo wrapped up a career year, where he hit 27 HRs and drove in 70 RBI while playing in 142 games for the AL Central winning Guardians.

🔼 On The Links. The Cougar golf programs are headed back to Pullman with a quartet of top-30 finishers at The Blessings Collegiate, hosted by the University of Arkansas this past week.

On the women’s side, freshman Kaitlyn Helm used three birdies to card a final-round 75 to tie for 13th at ten-over while junior Sara Pineros led the Cougs with a final-round 74 to move up ten spots and tied for 28th.

For the men, freshman Dylan Boenning finished the 54-hole event at 6-over, 222, tied for 16th. Sophomore Dylan Burcham posted a 5-over, 77, and completed his tournament at 14-over, 230, tied for 29th.

Overall, the men finished seventh and women ninth in a loaded tournament field.
