🔼 I Love Lucie. Big time players make big time plays in big time moments.

That’s exactly what WSU volleyball’s Lucie Blažková did this week and for her performance, she was named the West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Blažková played elite offense last weekend, totaling 21 kills on a .543 hitting percentage along with three service aces and 7.0 total blocks for 29.5 total points. She also chipped in two assists and 10 digs while averaging 4.21 points, 3.00 kills, 1.00 blocks, 1.43 digs and 0.43 aces per set.

The Cougars have a bye this Thursday before another big road match at San Diego on Saturday afternoon.

🔼 Forever A Legend. His impact on the WSU football program will be forever felt, but Coach Leach’s impact in the community was even more legendary.

This week, Mike Leach was announced as the 2026 Paul “Bear” Bryant Heart of a Champion Award winner, presented by Houston (Texas)-St. Luke’s Health, honoring his exceptional contributions to college football and the community.

Leach, who passed away in December 2022 at the age of 61 after suffering a heart attack, will be recognized posthumously for his larger-than-life impact on the game, his players and the communities he touched throughout his coaching career.

🔼 Speed Sweepin’. For the third time this fall, the Cougs swept the WCC Cross Country Runners of the Week accolades. Freshman Rosemary Longisa wins the award for the third time this season while sophomore Solomon Kipchoge wins it for the second time.

Longisa finished in third last weekend at the Nuttycombe inviational with a six-kilometer time of 19 minutes and 39.2 seconds. This time was only nine seconds off the first-place finisher. Longisa finished on the podium for the fourth time this season in as many races.

Solomon Kipchoge finished second at the Nuttycombe with an outstanding eight-kilometer time of 23 mintues and 5.6 seconds. This is the third race this year Kipchoge has finished in second, and the fourth time he has been on the podium.
