🔼 Home Defenders. In their past 60 home matches at Bohler Gym, the WSU volleyball squad is 46-14.

The home comforts continued this weekend as the Cougs rolled to a dominant 3-1 win over visiting LMU to keep pace at the top of the WCC league standings.

Lucie Blažková powered the Cougar offense with a match-high 16 kills, while adding four blocks and three service aces for 22 total points.

Taryn Vrieling matched her intensity with 16 kills of her own and eight digs, while setters Italia Bernal and Livia Ward efficiently directed the offense, combining for 45 assists.

Defensively, Tinons Munar Galmés had a season-high 21 digs, the most by a Cougar since Nov. 27, 2024.

🔼 Country’s Finest. Rosemary Longisa, Solomon Kipchoge, and Evans Kurui all finish in the top 5 as the Cougar cross country team competed with a nationally-competitive field at the Nuttycombe Invitational.

With Kurui and Kipchoge leading the way, the WSU men's team finished sixth overall in the 8k Championship race. Longisa led the women to a 14th overall finish in the 6k Championship race with 18 of the top-30 nationally-ranked schools competing.

🔼 Toe-To-Toe. A second straight cross country trip to face a nationally-ranked opponent saw the Cougs go toe-to-toe with one of the country’s best yet again.

A late rally by 18th-ranked Virginia led the Cavaliers to a wild 22-20 defeat of WSU in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday evening.

Washington State quarterback Zevi Eckhaus was 18 for 27 for 183 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 1-yard TD run, but he threw two interceptions.

🔼 Second Helpings. WSU Swimming posted a second-place finish at the 2025 MPSF Open Water Championships held on the coast of Long Beach, Calif. on Saturday.

In the women's 5K, Hay led the way with a fourth-place finish after posting a 1:03.15, just two seconds off of the winner. Sophomore Tatum Janning was sixth with a 1:03.39 and freshman Vivien Nett was 12th with a 1:03.57.

In the afternoon 2000-meter relay, freshman Avery Bulkley, Hay, Janning and Nett finished second with a 25:55, just 43 one-hundreth's of a second behind the winners, Rice. WSU finished ahead of third-place Cal Baptist, fourth-place Fresno State and fifth-place BYU. There were 27 competing relay teams.

🔼 Opening Act. Now that’s how you make a first impression.

The WSU women’s rowing squad got their 2025-26 campaign off to a strong start with a trio of first-place finishes at the Head of the Spokane on Saturday.

"Today was a solid day of racing top to bottom," said Head Coach Jane LaRiviere. "A lot of improvements between races – a great team effort."
