🔼 Clipping Their Wings. The full array was on display for the WSU men’s hoops team this week as the Cougs flexed their defensive muscles and were dialed in from long range en route to a 70-58 victory over Seattle on Wednesday night at Beasley Coliseum.
Offensively, Rihards Vavers was the story, knocking down a career-high five 3-pointers as part of a career-best 24 points. ND Okafor poured in 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists. Freshman sensation Ace Glass finished with 14 points, two assists and two rebounds for the Cougs.
Defensively, WSU held Seattle to a season-low 58 points, while limiting Redhawks to just 34.4-percent from the field and 3-for-21 from beyond the arc.
🔼 Star Of The Show. WSU swimming senior Emily Lundgren received a HUGE honor this week as she was named one of five finalists for the Seattle Sports Star of the Year, Women's Sports Award.
The 91st Annual Sports Star of the Year awards will be held March 13 at 5 p.m. at the Seattle Convention Center Summit. The event is the Seattle Sports Commission's flagship annual celebration honoring Washington's top athletes, coaches, leaders, and sports stories.
As a junior last season, Lundgren had the best season in program history, winning multiple honors in both individual events and relays and leading WSU to its first unbeaten season.

🔼 Preseason Praise. With the start of the season just a few weeks away, freshman golfer Kaitlyn Helm earned some preseason praise.
This week, Helm was named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference.
Helm was one of three freshman named to the 10-member preseason team. The Phoenix native led the Cougars with three Top-15 finishes including a pair of Top-8 finishes in the fall.
